About SJP

Getting to this point of my life has required a great deal of inspiration. In my 28 years I have had the honor of acquiring guidance from many remarkable men and women. In the many valleys of my life, it has always been the kind word, gentle reminder or words of wisdom from someone who could see so clearly what I could not, either in myself or the world.

My story is not unlike many, as I was reminded recently, but I imagine therefore, that it is indeed the story of many.

I was also saved by sport. Throughout my life, it has always been a safe place that has taught me quite a lot about myself, as well as giving me valuable tools to grow. Sport does that. Studies will speak of the effect it has on confidence, teamwork and humility among others.

Recently, there was the story of USA’s long jumper, Tianna Bartoletta, medaling at Worlds, despite being homeless for three months. Prior to that, the world made a huge hurrah about Serena Williams winning a Grand Slam while being pregnant. Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser, also pregnant, medalled at the olympics around the same time.
